Deleted my gmail app and I am now SPRING BREAK REA Deleted my gmail app and I am now SPRING BREAK READY 🌴 a photo dump of the craziest, longest shortest week yet. This week we celebrated spirit week/days at both schools, celebrated pi day, went through a lock down 🙈 and finished conference week! Hope everyone is spending this weekend resting after this wild post daylight savings week 💕💕 #teachersofinstagram #teacherlife
HAPPY PI DAY! As much as I love this math holiday HAPPY PI DAY! As much as I love this math holiday it‘s also an annual reminder for me of the last day we were in school before everything went virtual. I will never take for granted the ability to teach in person and without puppy @kobeand_chloe barking in the background 😅 That being said, teaching is still EXHAUSTING.

Today, was a minimum day so we took a pause on lessons to celebrate pi day! My students recited 20+ digits of pi, then we ate pie and platefuls of whipped cream before I sent them off to their next class 😂 How did you celebrate today? #mathteacher #piday
This year has felt busy busy busy but I feel like This year has felt busy busy busy but I feel like I’m finally starting to catch a breath as our speech and debate season starts to wind down. Today we had our last meeting of the year 😱 and we are now a week away from our last tournament! Next up on my big to do’s for the year is getting my AP CSP kids started on their Create Task for their AP exam 🤞🏼 What are some of your big end of year to dos? #teachersofinstagram #teacherlife #classroomdecor
Years ago when I first taught angle relationships Years ago when I first taught angle relationships in Boston, the history teacher on my team told us this story of how he came up with this in HIS 7th grade math class when he learned angle relationships. Reciting it to my students over the years has honestly been my favorite part of teaching angle relationships. I love the cringy stares and half laughs I get from my students each time. What are some ways you remember your angle relationships? #mathteacher #teachersofinstagram #mathnotes
I know I’ve been MIA from this space but I promi I know I’ve been MIA from this space but I promise I’m still teaching and I’m still here! 😂 This past week, my Math 7 students started two step equations and after what I thought was a ✨BOMB✨ lesson, my students walked away wide eyed and confused about their homework 😬 I may or may not have woken up to a nightmare about teaching two step equations that night…. 😂

The next day, after talking to another Math 7 teacher, I decided to scrap my plans and we did a two step equation practice day. It was not a pretty, aesthetic day but it was effective!

1️⃣I handed out computer paper and had my students fold it in fourths.
2️⃣On each section, they wrote down a question and solved it.
3️⃣When they were done, I checked it. If they got it correct, I recorded it as a check on my board and circled it if they got it incorrect. If they got it wrong, I gave them feedback and had them retry it.
4️⃣Once students completed the four questions, they complete a two step equation skill on IXL to 70%.
5️⃣If they were done with that, they got to try their hand at an extension skill!

By the end of class, most students felt more comfortable but we shall see how much they remembered after our three day weekend! What are you covering now in your classes? #mathteacher #iteachmath
Last year, I saw a wall celebrating student’s iR Last year, I saw a wall celebrating student’s iReady growth at the first school I worked at and it’s been on my to do list since. This year, I finally put one together and love how it turned out! Shoutout to @kamiapp for making the creation process a breeze!

Prior to putting this up…
✅ I passed out each student’s diagnostic growth result.
✅ On their printout, we reviewed their iReady goal growth and celebrated students who grew on their test!
✅ We looked at their domain growth to identify what domains they need to focus on, if any.
✅ Then we reviewed resources they can use to continue their growth. While I don’t give dedicated class time for IXL diagnostic and recommended skills, that gets the biggest plug here since the diagnostic domains are the same as the ones on their iReady. Student’s diagnostic results on IXL are also pretty reflective of their scores in iReady which is honestly awesome!

As much as I dislike testing season, I feel thankful to have this data and am so proud of some of the incredible growth my students made. For my own practice, this data also has me thinking of things that worked so far this year and things I should do differently. Let me know, do you also use iReady as a school? What are some things you do with your students after the test? #teacherlife
We did it! We survived the longest month of the ye We did it! We survived the longest month of the year 😅 Major highlights for me this month included going on three field trips and taking our speech and debate team to the Mardi Gras tournament 🎉 After all the craziness of January, my body seemed to think “okay that’s enough” and I woke up yesterday with my throat burning and a headache. I ended up taking a sick day to recover and rest. Hope you all are doing well! I know I’m very much looking forward to our two three day weekends coming up this month! 💕 #teachersofinstagram #iteachtoo #classroomorganization
PSA that Valentine’s is now out in stores and @t PSA that Valentine’s is now out in stores and @target store pickup could be your best friend 😂😍 Not going to lie.. the empty shelves of last year still haunt me and somehow convinced type b me to not procrastinate 😂🙈 How do you celebrate Valentines in your classroom? #teachersofinstagram #teacherlife #valentines
This week was my first full teaching week since co This week was my first full teaching week since coming back from winter break and it was a whirlwind 🤪 Today, my Math 7 students started class with a simplifying expression check in (📷 1). After they finished, we reviewed and graded it as a class before moving into a scavenger hunt! Shoutout to my 7th now 8th grade girls from last year who helped me hang them all up. They were on a mission to trick my class and worked hard to find spots to hang them ➡️ I had to veto a few because they were way too difficult 😂Comment expressions for the scavenger hunt! 💞

Bonus, any guesses which question was the most difficult? #teacherlife #mathteacher #iteachmath #math
It’s hard to believe that I’ve been back in sc It’s hard to believe that I’ve been back in school for only two weeks… winter break already feels like a distant memory 😂On our first day back, I wanted to keep things consistent and predictable so my students started class with a warm up in their notebooks. Then, we eased our way into the rest of the day by taking some time to work on our word of the year! I made my own along with my students and cheated a little by pulling in some of my favorite @kamiapp stickers.

Thank you to everyone who shared their word of the year walls. It is so special seeing the words and creativity of our students 💕What were some ways you started your year with your students? #iteachtoo #teacherlife #teacherootd
