Two back to school nights, four parent teacher con Two back to school nights, four parent teacher conference weeks and now two open houses later we are finally at the end! 🎉 Every year I feel like I’m barely finding time to breath from week to week and this year was not different. I’m so thankful for everything this year and I’m also VERY ready to rest 🤗💕 How are you all doing? #teacherofinstagram #classroomideas #iteachtoo #mathteacher
I’d like to thank Amazon Prime for making my pro I’d like to thank Amazon Prime for making my procrastinating self think anything is possible with their two day shipping😂 I may or may not have gotten to school early on test day to assembly enough for my first class and then recruited my non testing students to assemble the rest of these for me 😂💕 If you’re looking for links to the items I purchased, comment link below and I’ll send them to you 🤗
I love teaching middle school but this year more t I love teaching middle school but this year more than ever, I’m feeling the loss of watching my students promote out of middle school and move onto high school. The last six years, I’ve always been the one to leave the school but this time.. it’s my students doing the leaving. As someone who hates change that has been difficult to wrap my mind around 🙈 I’m going to miss the relationships we’ve built, the routines we’ve created and the spirit they bring into our classroom space. Three weeks left with this crew until we start back at square 1 🥺💕#teacher #teacherlife #iteachtoo

The other day, during the height of test prep, I h The other day, during the height of test prep, I had a flashback to the stress 😓 of AP week as a high schooler and I had to take a step back. I was hearing my students tell each other, “I feel nervous” “I hope my parents feel proud of me” I couldn’t sleep last night” and my first reaction was pride that my students were working their hardest to study for the test. Until I remembered my own experiences as an AP student. I had to remind myself to encourage my students to rest, to take time in class to pause and to reassure them that they are more than their scores.

I am so proud of this group of students. For the care they put into their preparations and for the thoughtfulness they went about the whole process. I can’t wait to see the amazing things they do in 8th grade, high school and beyond but I also hope they remember to listen for what they need and remember that their best is always enough 💕 #teacherlife #aptest

Is it just me or is end of year just a nonstop whi Is it just me or is end of year just a nonstop whirlwind? 😂

I filmed my calendar update at the beginning of the April and never got around to editing/posting until now… so here it is! In April, my coding students participated in our county’s first Code-A-Thon and they all did such a great job! They also started and finished their create task for the AP Computer Science Principle Exam and created mini resumes to display for our open house! My math 7 students, started and finished the rest of our math standards (just in time for our state tests) and crammed in some not so fun review days 🙈 My math 7 honors students, finished their 7th grade math standards and we got to move to the fun stuff in 8th grade standards before jumping into some state test review. Professionally, I finished my last observation for the year 🎉

I’m currently running the marathon of our last month before summer but am so ready for all the end of year festivities to come! How are all of you doing? #teachersofinstagram #teacherlife #iteachtoo #classroomdecor
Annie @schooledbystultz said this years ago and ev Annie @schooledbystultz said this years ago and everytime I do anything that’s not teaching it’s all I can think about 😂🙈 there’s so much to our job beyond the “usual” teacher tasks. As a teacher now, it makes me appreciate even more all the teachers I’ve had growing up. What are some things you do with your master degree? 😂#teacherappreciationweek #teacherlife #iteachtoo
WE MADE IT TO FRIDAY!! This week was my first of t WE MADE IT TO FRIDAY!! This week was my first of two open houses so my students and I took a pause on our APCSP test prep to prepare our classroom for visitors. Last year, in my first year in the district I was not prepared AT ALL for open house but this year I was ready with a vision! My students made mini resumes listing projects they completed this year in our advanced coding class, attached QR codes with their project videos and shared a little bit about themselves! I love seeing how my students have grown and all the marketable skills they’ve gain and practiced this year! I’m going to miss this group so much next year when many of them go to high school and I’m so proud of everything they’ve done this year!

What are some things you do for open house? I still have one more to go and I will take all the suggestions and tips you have! #openhouse #middleschool #iteachtoo #mathteacher #codingeducation
Shoutout to my coteacher in Boston, who taught me Shoutout to my coteacher in Boston, who taught me this game! It’s my FAVORITE way to introduce compound probability! I love that it gets students thinking about the probability of two independent events. After playing, we’ll jump into creating a list, table and tree of all our possible outcomes.

How to Play:
✅ Get your students to open a blank @kamiapp document and have them create five columns labeling each with a letter from the word SKUNK.
✅ Once students are ready, have them all stand up.
✅ Roll two dice and everyone records the sum of the rolls
✅ Before rolling again, ask students to sit if they want to lock in their score.
✅ Continue rolling and recording. When a 1 is rolled, everyone still standing loses all their points that round.
✅ Continue for 5 rounds, moving down one column each time.
✅ At the end, student with the highest total of points win!

What are some of your favorite probability activities? #teachersofinstagram #mathteacher #iteachmath #probability
